The Turning

After the death of their parents, the siblings Flora (Brooklynn Prince) and Miles (Finn Wolfhard) come into the care of their uncle. He houses the children in his country house and hires nanny Kate (Mackenzie Davis) to take care of the two.
The young woman soon realizes that Miles and Flora have a secret to hide. She also sees ghostly shapes and assumes that the old house is haunted. But are the ghosts that supposedly have a great influence on the behavior of the children actually exist or does Kate just imagine it?
In 2016, the project got started, especially by Steven Spielberg, who is an executive producer on the film. Originally, director Juan Carlos Fresnadilio was supposed to realize the film, but after Scott Z. Burns made drastic changes to the screenplay by Chad and Carey Hayes (“Conjuring”), Spielberg and the studios distanced themselves from the project. As a consequence, Fresnadilio and Burns were fired and the original script based on the horror novel by Henry James from 1898 * was recalled.
The Italian director Floria Sigismondi (“American Gods”) took over the director’s post, which was now freed, and the team of authors was expanded to include Jade Barlett. In the leading roles we see “Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard, Canadian Mackenzie Davis (“Balde Runner 2049”) and child actress Brooklynn Prince, who has already appeared in “The Florida Project” and the Bianca character in “The LEGO Movie” 2 “lent her voice.
Due to the change in personnel behind the camera, the entire production has been postponed, so that the film, which originally started in spring 2019, will only be released in the US in January 2020. A German start is not yet certain, but is also expected in early 2020.
