Maleficent- Mistress of Evil

Angelina Jolie once again plays the Horned Fairy Maleficent to add another spectacular piece to the dark twist of the Sleeping Beauty story.
With her black horns and wings, the fairy Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) looks like a real villain. The picture-perfect first Disney film in 2014 proved that it is not that easy. “Maleficent” told the “Sleeping Beauty” story from the perspective of the villain whose reasons were very understandable on closer inspection. “Maleficent 2” tells a new story from the magical moor.
At the end of the first part, Maleficent and Aurora (Elle Fanning) fought together against ambitious King Stefan (Sharlto Copley). Aurora was crowned Queen and Maleficent overcame her grudge against the humans. As a sign of reconciliation, she let the magical moor flourish again – end good, all right? Not at all! A new danger is imminent to the kingdom and the relationship between Maleficent and Aurora is being put to the test.
Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) turns pale with envy when Aurora takes the throne. Ingrith tries to drive a wedge between Maleficent and Aurora to get the seat on the throne. In her plan also plays Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson), who has kissed Aurora in the first part unsuccessful, an important role. And of course the three fairies Knotgrass (Imelda Staunton), Thistlewit (Juno Temple) and Flittle (Lesley Manville) are back in the game too – and maybe a bit overwhelmed.Director Robert Stromberg has staged a surprisingly clever and visually stunning fairytale film “Maleficent”, which not only convinced the critics, but also impressed with a gross entry of 758 million dollars at the worldwide box office. A second part has been debated for a long time, but could not be realized until now because lead actress Angelina Jolie (“By the Sea”) had doubts about the project. Luckily they are now cleared.
Fans can look forward to a reunion in “Maleficent 2” with a large part of the original cast from the first part. In addition to Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning (“Mary Shelley”) will be there again, as well as Imelda Staunton (“Paddington 2”), Juno Temple (“Unsane – Exposed”) and Lesley Manville (“The Silk Thread”) as flower fairies. Of course, there are some new additions to report for the second part.
Most important is probably the change on the directing post: Robert Stromberg is replaced by Joachim Rønning (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s revenge”). Replaced is also Brenton Thwaites, who played in the first part Prince Phillip. The role is now taken over by Harris Dickinson (“The Darkest Minds”). Also new is the multi-Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Pfeiffer (“Ant-Man and the Wasp”), who together with Ed Skrein (“Deadpool”) will take over the evil faction of the fairy tale.
