Angel Has Fallen

In the first part, Gerard Butler destroyed the White House, in the second London, in the conclusion of the “Has Fallen” trilogy he is hunted as Mike Banning by the FBI.
The Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) had a number of bad days: When North Korean terrorists attack the White House, he barely manages to save US President Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and the nuclear codes. When a memorial service in London is turned into a slaughterhouse by a Pakistani warlord, Banning seriously thinks about quitting his job. The notice is already written. But an emotional speech by then-Vice President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) persuaded him to move on. A decision he will regret!
Once again terrorists are targeting the US president. Meanwhile, former Vice Allan Trumbull has risen to the highest office. Trumbull knows Mike Banning well. All the more shocking is the news that Banning should be behind the assassination himself. The alarmed Secret Service and the FBI are chasing after Banning. To prove his innocence, Banning must find the real assassins who are after the Air Force One – a relentless race against time.
The massive success of the action-thriller “Olympus Has Fallen” was one of the great surprises of 2013. After a script by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt – both have written every part of the series since then – directed by Antoine Fuqua (“The Equalizer”) the action movie with the sensitivity of a hammer. Admittedly, “Olympus Has Fallen” had some very cool scenes, think of the AC-130 bombing the White House! But many a political undertone seemed disturbing.
The success did not detract from this: “Olympus Has Fallen” played $ 170 million, although promptly with “White House Down” a similar Emmerich blockbuster came to the cinemas. The race was decided by the underdog “Olympus Has Fallen”. And in 2016, the sequel “London Has Fallen”, this time by Babak Najafi (“Proud Mary”) staged, which even brought out a box office of $ 205 million. The fact that critics for the film specially invented the genre “Terror Sploitation”, may even have helped.
In the third installment “Angel Has Fallen”, the director now goes to Ric Roman Waugh, who can already recommend himself on the Dwayne-Johnson vehicle “Snitch – A Risky Deal”. Of course, Gerard Butler (“Criminal Squad”) will be in the third part of the muscles again. Also in attendance is Morgan Freeman (“Departure in Style”), who has had a curious career within the “Has Fallen” trilogy: from the Speaker of the House in the first part, through the Vice President in the second, and finally to the US President in the third part. However, as US presidents in the film series seem to be attracted to explosions magnetically, we hope that Morgan will survive Freeman’s role for a fourth part.
