A Rainy Day in New York

Woody Allen’s exhilarating love drama in which a young couple experiences different adventures on a rainy weekend in New York.
For the young couple Gatsby (Timothée Chalamet) and Ashleigh (Elle Fanning) a romantic weekend in New York is imminent. But the areas of interest are elsewhere upon arrival.
Ashleigh’s interview with the renowned director Roland Pollard (Liev Schreiber) turns into a hot story that could mean her breakthrough as a journalist. She clings to the quirky director’s heels and gets to know his screenwriter Ted Davidoff (Jude Law) and the celebrated film star Francisco Vega (Diego Luna) better than she initially likes.
Meanwhile, Gatsby is floating around in the New York rain. He meets Chan (Selena Gomez), the quick-witted sister of his ex-girlfriend, who turns his head, has deep conversations with a live lady (Kelly Rohrbach) and has to rethink his whole life after a conversation with his mother (Cherry Jones) ,
What should be a romantic weekend including a carriage ride through Central Park becomes a rainy self-discovery trip for two lovers, at the end of which they question their future together.
The 48th feature film by Woody Allen (“Manhattan”) is another declaration of love to the US metropolis. In the leading roles, Timothée Chalamet (“Call Me By Your Name”) and Elle Fanning (“Maleficent”) shine as a young couple on an individual self-discovery trip. They encounter stars like Liev Schreiber, Jude Law, Cherry Jones and Selena Gomez.
The film was shot in 2017 and was originally supposed to be released in 2018. A legal dispute with Amazon, which initially put the film to the file, resulted in the marketing rights to Allen declining and in 2019 will initially only be shown in European cinemas.
